French colonial rule
During the period of French colonial rule (the middle 19. - 1953). In the mid-19 century. K. was the subject of the colonial ambitions of France, which came at this time on the path of conquest in Indochina. In 1863, it imposed a protectorate treaty K., replaced in 1884 by more indentured, in fact, become a colony of France K.. Khmer monarchy, which was under the control of a French resident, retained only the executive branch on the ground. In 1887, together with K.
