The Biography of Pol Pot

In May 1928, in Kompong Thom province in Cambodia, was born a man, which in effect would be called one of the most brutal tyrants of the 20 th Century his name is Pol Pot. But it was not his real name but a political nickname, short for "politique potentielle", in French  "the potential policy, now is the name Pol Pot Saloth Sar. His father was not large, but a wealthy landowner.

At the age of nine he moved to Phnom Penh, where he lived at the monastery Wat Botum Wadd for a few months, Pol Pot studied the basics of Buddhism and Khmer, and then in 1937 went to primary school. After finishing it in 1942, and continued his studies at college in Kampong Cham.

In 1948, having failed to pass examinations at the prestigious school at that time Sisowath High School, he was forced to continue his education at a technical school in Phnom Penh. In 1949, Pol Pot was given a government scholarship, with the possibility of obtaining higher education in France.

In Paris, he studied engineering, worked hard and was a good student. In the Summer of 1950, Pol Pot, together with his classmates went to work in Zagreb (Yugoslavia). Returning to France, Pol Pot and his friend met Ieng Sary, who introduces him to the patriotic nationalist, Keng Vannsakom. It was at his apartment they bstarted to work the underground Marxist circle.

I discussed the Marxist ideology and the writings of prominent supporters of this trend. In 1952, Pol Pot in Cambodia, the official publication of the students,  "Khmer Nisut" published his first article, entitled "Monarchy or Democracy?". At the same time he joined the Communist Party of France. New hobby so engulfed him, and did not leave time for education, for which he was expelled from the university and in December 1952, Pol Pot leaves France.
