Ta Prohm Temple

Ta Prohm was built in the style of the Bayon temple in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Ta Prohm is located to the east of Angkor Thom. The temple was built by King Dzhayavarmanom VII as a Buddhist monastery and university. Unlike most other temples of Angkor, Ta Prohm has remained in the same condition in which it was found: a simply photogenic atmosphere of the trees growing out of the ruins and surrounding jungle have done it one of the most popular temples of Angkor to the visitors.

Ta Prohm was one of the first churches built in massive construction program Jayavarman VII. The modern name of the temple means "old Brahma, but the original name was Radzhaviara (Queen's Temple). Ta Prohm has been focused on the veneration of the king of the family and the main images were modeled on its main part. Extensions and additions continued until the end of construction. On the stele Ta Prohm has been written that the territory of Ta Prohm has been home to more than 12500 people, and another 80,000 from nearby villages helped to supply the agency. Ta Prohm has accumulated considerable wealth, including gold, pearls and silk.

Ta Prohm Temple has a typical flat structure, like most Khmer temples, with five rectangular walls around the central sanctuary. Ta Prohm is oriented to the east. Along the perimeter of Ta Prohm is a wall the size of 1000 on 650 meters and covers an area of 650,000 square meters, which when it was the city and is now overgrown with jungle. With each of the cardinal points is the entrance to the Gopuram, but to date access to the Ta Prohm is only possible from the east and west.
