Bayon is one of the most beautiful and most mysterious of the temples of Angkor. It was built in 13 century for the King Jayavarman VII, is at the center of its capital, Angkor Thom. The most distinctive feature of all the other temples is a lot of smiling faces on the towers, which rise up to its central peak. Bayon also has two sets of bas-reliefs, which give the unusual combination of mythological, historical and mundane events. Bayon is even called the most vivid expression of baroque style in comparison with the classical style of Angkor Wat.
