Oddar (Oddar Meancheay) is one of the northern provinces of Cambodia, bordering Thailand in the north, east of Preah Vihear in the south of Siem Ripom and Banteaymeancheey in the west. The area of Oddar is 6158 km2, the population of 185 thousand people. The name of the province of Oddar means "northern victory" and comes from the words "uttarā" and "jaya". The province consists of 5 districts, 24 communes and 231 villages. The capital city of the province Samroung (Samroung).

The territory of Oddar pass one of the most beautiful mountains in Cambodia,the mountains of Dangrek. The region has a serious problem is the disappearance of forests as a result of frequent fires in the dry season, and illegal logging.

In the recent past 1989 to 1997, mountain and forest areas Oddar been a refuge of the Khmer Rouge, and today the region is one of the most heavily mined in Cambodia.

The most famous place in the province of Oddar a village of Anlong Veng (Anlong Veng District) located in 125 kilometres from Siem Ripa, near the border with Thailand. She is known for two historical reasons: this is the last stronghold of the Khmer Rouge, which came under the control of the government in 1998 and the final resting place of Pol Pot.

After the fall of the Khmer Rouge the place became to some extent their "capital" during the 90 years he controlled the region, and there still has the mass graves of 3000 people in 6 kilometres from Anlong Veng, killed in the period from 1993 to 1997. The executions were carried out during the reign of Ta Mok.

The village is the house of Ta Mok, standing on the shore of an artificial lake. Nameless Grave Ta Mok was further north Oddar. In Anlong Veng is planned to make a memorial, tourist center, museum and tourist infrastructure so that tourists could stop on the road to the temple of Preah Vihear.
