Language
Khmer is the official language of Cambodia and is used in most social contexts, including public administration, education, mass media. It is spoken by approximately 90% of the population. In the Khmer language, there are several dialects, but separated from these three: use in areas of Battambang and some areas Kardamonovyh mountains, distributed in the border provinces of Thailand and of course, Phnom Penh.
Short Title 2Regional differences are insignificant, to understand each other is not difficult. The Khmer alphabet has 49 characters, 16 of which represent consonants while the remaining 33 vowels. In lexical terms Khmer contains monosyllabic and disyllabic words, which do not change from time to time, number and case. During the years of French colonial rule, many French words were included in the Khmer language, but in today's Cambodia, the French almost never used, the main language, with more and more popular and taught in schools and colleges is English.
