The Palin History
Many years ago, Palin was a small forest area with rich flora and fauna. The Title Pailin transformed from Ban Len (Pan Len), from the legend of the 18 century, which refers to the group of hunters who hunted the animals and in pursuit of them reached the modern Pailin, where they were dense jungle of which flowed a river called the Tong, it Hunters saw the otters play, which saw them run away.

In late 1970 Palin was a prosperous city with a rich deposits cameo. It is for this reason that Palin was one of the first towns where invaded by the Khmer Rouge, before the start of a major offensive against Phnom Penh. Pailin no resistance when they entered the city, because the Khmer Rouge were met as liberators. Khmer Rouge used the proceeds from the sale of minerals in Pailin for financing their military operations, and then their government when they came to power. When the Vietnamese army liberated Phnom Penh, the Khmer kmery "retreated to Pailin, and many of their leaders were hiding there for years in fear of punishment for their crimes.
Even today, in Pailin are many people from the former Khmer Rouge in 2007, some leaders were at the court of an international tribunal, including Nuon Chea (Nuon Chea) who served as prime minister during the regime of the Khmer Rouge and former Chairman of the Presidium of the time Khieu Samphan (Khieu Samphan). Pailin was one of the most heavily mined areas in Cambodia, therefore, traveling on Palin does not bow out of the marked roads. Currently, much of the Pailin cleared by the UN.
